Rumor has it that the spritz came about when some Austrian soldiers came to Venice. The wine was a bit strong for those boys, so they began mixing it with water to temper the taste.
Not too unlike Sandhills Elixir! Fun fact, most of our customers actually use Elixir as a complement to their lower-proof cocktail instead of a full replacement to alcohol. To each their own!
Enjoy the pronounced Chokecherry flavor in this spritz.
Ingredients:
- 4 ounces Chokecherry Sandhills Elixir
- 2 ounces fresh lime juice
- 2 ounces simple syrup
- Club soda
- Lime slices, for garnish
- Chokecherries (or Aronia berries), for garnish
- Swap club soda for Prosecco if you want a low-proof option
Instructions:
- Fill two wine glasses or large balloon glasses with ice cubes.
- In a separate mixing glass, combine the Chokecherry Sandhills Elixir, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup.
- Stir gently to thoroughly mix the ingredients.
- Divide the mixture equally between the two glasses, pouring over the ice.
- Top off each glass with club soda, allowing the bubbles to mingle with the flavors.
- Garnish each glass with a slice of lime and a few chokecherries (or Aronia berries) to add an enticing touch.
Note: Adjust the amount of simple syrup according to your desired level of sweetness.
